While computer manufacturers love to get you focused on megahertz, nothing will speed up your computer more than adding RAM. This is true for macs as well as PC's (even Steve Jobs can't figure out a way around this). On all but the most recent Macs introduced in November, 2008, Crucial DDR2-667 sticks are the way to go. Prices have dropped dramatically so that you can get a 1 GB Crucial memory stick for under $20 and a 2 GB crucial memory stick for under $30. At these prices, I recommend going for the maximum RAM your Mac can take. You'll be amazed by the speed improvement. Installation is also very easy. Usually just one screw and then sliding the old stick out an the new one in.
