This is an easy one.
You need something to listen to while you are working out to get you charged up (heck, I'll go for *anything* that will help me through a workout). What do you get?
The clear answer is the 1 GB iPod Shuffle.
We love the Shuffle for a number of reasons, but here are the highlights:
1. It is very small and light. I have lost three of them to the washing machine because it was so small I didn't realize it was still in my shorts (it is roughly the area of a postage stamp). It even has a nice clip to let you put it on the outside of your clothing for easy access.
2. It works perfectly with iTunes. Sure, you can get cheaper solutions from other manufacturers but you wouldn't be able to play the music you have bought on iTunes on it without some painful file conversion. It is hard enough to go to the gym. Don't make it any harder.
3. It doesn't have a screen. While some would see this as a drawback, for a workout this is a benefit. You are working out to get in a workout. Don't waste your time looking for just the right song. Put the thing on shuffle and run your quarter mile!
4. The buttons are intuitive. If you have used any iPod, you know how to control this one.
5. Why 1 GB? It is a safe rule of thumb to assume you'll need 1.5 mb per minute of music. At this rate, 1 GB will get you over 11 hours of music on this device. How long is your workout, Lance?
6. Price. At under $50 in retail, this packs a lot of punch for the price. Go for it.
