My approach

From an idea to a thoughtful next step.

A useful first conversation clarifies a problem and explores possible technical approaches. Any paid project and its legal or commercial terms would be agreed separately.

From idea to impact

From an idea to a possible project

  1. Discover and scope

Describe the idea and problem you want to solve without confidential information. I can reply with questions to understand the context.

  2. Design

We can explore possible technical directions by email. This first conversation does not reserve work or establish a contract.

  3. Build and validate

If we both want to explore paid work, the scope, responsibilities, legal arrangements and commercial terms would need separate agreement first.

  4. Launch and support

A commissioned project would only begin after appropriate arrangements are in place. This portfolio does not accept payments or create bookings.

Review real work as it develops.

A review should give you something concrete to assess: a page, a workflow, a demonstration or a documented decision. We keep the purpose of the change clear so feedback can be connected to the project’s goal.

When a new requirement appears, we discuss its effect on the scope, dependencies and delivery plan. Important decisions should be recorded where the next person working on the project can find them.

What needs to be clear

What is being delivered

The agreed pages, functions, integrations and content responsibilities.

How it will be reviewed

The useful journeys and checks that show the agreed scope is working.

Who operates it

Access, ongoing services, ownership arrangements and the maintenance plan.

Before a project begins

Do we need a detailed technical brief?
No. A description of the problem, the people affected and the result you want is a useful starting point.
How are timing and cost agreed?
They depend on the scope, dependencies and responsibilities. The proposal should make the assumptions and agreed terms explicit.
Is ongoing support included?
Support and maintenance should be agreed as part of the commercial scope. They are not unlimited or automatically included in every project.

Discuss a project

Have a software idea you'd like to explore?

Send a short enquiry. I'll reply by email to explore possible next steps. A message does not create a booking, quote or contract.
